CoA hosts first party since 2019: End of Summer Bash

On Wednesday, August 24, 2022 seniors from across Gladwin County came together for the first in-person party hosted by the Council on Aging (CoA) since 2019.

Meal participants from the CoA’s Congregate and Home Delivered Meal Programs were all invited to join the CoA staff out at Sage Township Hall for an End of Summer Party.

The Gladwin City County Transit provided free transportation to and from the event, picking people up at all four meal site locations in Gladwin County.

Around 50 people attended and the CoA staff was very happy with the turn out.

“We were so happy to see everyone getting back together,” Program Director Anna McNeill said.

There were yard games for everyone to play, appetizers, music and conversation.

A lunch of pulled pork sandwiches, pasta salad, corn, lemon lime Jello and watermelon was served at noon. Then, once people were finishing up eating, a door prize raffle was called and BINGO was played until all prizes had been claimed.

There were smiles and joy expressed by many participants.

The CoA staff would usually host an outing/party like this bi-monthly from Spring through Fall, but had to put them on hold due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“We are hoping to get back to a new ‘normal’ with these events and possibly some outings in the future,” McNeill said.

The CoA wants to thank everyone who came out, their staff for providing such great service, Sage Township Hall for providing the location and to the Gladwin City County Transit for providing transportation.
